In simple words, yoga is a fantastic system for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. The practice of yoga is really an exploration of our selves on all these levels.
In the broadest sense, yoga is a ‘Way of Life’. It teaches us how to proceed in life with wisdom, awareness, and true understanding.
First thing first, you need to let go of any preconceived notion you have about yoga. Some people believe it’s a religion or that you have to be flexible or physically fit. Some people also think it caters only to woman or the wealthy. Yoga is truly for everyone. All you need is an open mind and the ability to let yoga move through you in every level possible. It’s a good idea to peruse through our website and learn about the different classes we offer, our studio etiquette, and our information page entitled “Yoga for Beginners”.
There are many different styles of yoga. Some styles are fast paced and vigorous while others more gentle and slow moving. All styles of yoga have benefits so evaluating your individual needs and personality type will help point you in the right direction.
It is always best to get the advice and clearance of your physician. Depending on the extent of your injury or medical condition most doctors highly recommend practicing yoga. In fact yoga is an excellent way to support the body in its healing process. If you get the approval from your physician it’s a good idea to let your teacher know so they can address your specific needs.
Yoga is a great way to celebrate the connection between you and your unborn child. However, there are some precautions so please advise your doctor and your teacher especially if you are in your first trimester.
This is more reason why you should practice yoga. Yoga helps increase flexibility, release joint tension and increase mobility.
