- Arrive 10-15 minutes early. This will allow you time to enjoy your experience and ask any questions. It’s also a great time to meet your instructor and just clear your thoughts before the start of class.
- Practice on an empty stomach. We recommend you refrain from eating at least 2-3 hours before your practice. If necessary eat something light such as a fruit.
- Dress appropriately. Wear comfortable clothing.
- Purchase a yoga mat. Although we do have yoga mats for rent we highly recommend you purchase one. Having your own mat supports your commitment to your practice and ensures its cleanliness.
- Notify the teacher of injuries or medical conditions. This will help your teacher make necessary adjustments or give you modifications.
- Practice often. It is recommended that you practice 4-6 times per week for maximum benefit. Practicing 2-3 times per week will show improvement for most students within three months.
- Explore! Try a few (or all) the different styles of yoga we offer. Find the practice which you feel best suits your personality and personal objectives.
- Don’t feel like you need to do everything on your first day! Take breaks, observe the more experienced students in class, and be easy on your body. It’s a new experience so treat it like one.
- Check your ego–and your expectations–at the door. Believe me…ones ego and expectations can seriously get in the way of a good yoga practice. Just anticipate working hard but having fun.
